James Bowser, Managing Member of the firm, was born in the city of Detroit, Michigan and raised in Trenton. He was admitted to the practice of law in Oregon in 1984 and then in Michigan in 1987. For the last twenty five years he has practiced law as a Prosecuting Attorney, and since then for the past fifteen years, he has concentrated in the areas of Bankruptcy Law, Real Estate, Business Law and Reorganization, Social Security Disability and Estate Planning. Mr. Bowser is a graduate of Michigan State University, James Madison College (Political Philosophy) in 1981 with Honors, and attended the Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland Oregon and was in the top 10% of his class.
In addition to being admitted to The Michigan State Bar, James was also admitted to the Eastern District of Michigan, US Bankruptcy Court and is a Certified Veteran's Attorney. James has been a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Robert W. Redding of the Multnomah County Circuit Court in Portland, Oregon and also to the Honorable William Murphy of the Wayne County Circuit Court in Detroit, Michigan.
Mr. Bowser for years has volunteered his time to various courts to attempt to alleviate their large case volume, such as participating in the 41-B District Court Mediation program. He has spent his personal time volunteering for youth sports as a coach in basketball and baseball for over fifteen years. In 2001, he was the founder and continues to operate youth travel sports programs which have served, and continues to serve, hundreds of youths each year.
Through their church, Mr. Bowser and his wife actively supported programs to help support children in developing countries that are at risk. Mr. and Mrs. Bowser have personally sponsored a child in the Philippines and are actively involved in his education.
In addition to being respected and acknowledged as one of Michigan's Top Lawyer's, Mr. Bowser is a Member in good standing with the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys; the National Association of Social Security Claimants' Representations; and the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys. He is also an active member of the Macomb County and St. Clair County Bar Associations.
Over the course of the last twenty three years Mr. Bowser has filed thousands of Bankruptcy petitions on behalf of his clients. James has successfully represented debtors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases as well as Chapter 11 filings. These debtors have been individuals, couples and businesses that needed assistance. James has often expressed the great satisfaction he feels from helping individuals and families in time of need. Often a person's house is the most important part of their security in their life, and Mr. Bowser has dedicated his legal practice to saving that asset.
